Joseph Oates returned from India but died in 1899 in StAnnes on Sea. He had 5 siblings - Hannah, Elizabeth, Mary, William & George. However, when he died, only Elizabeth, Mary, William & George were alive - his brother William may have been in a mental asylum at the time of his death. No idea if any of his siblings joined him in India.
In Josephs will he refers to Mary Eliza Garlick as his cousin. They were engaged but Joseph didn't wish to marry because of his ill health.
