Described as "of Hill Top" in baptism entries.
He received the tenancy of Hill Top Farm as a result of the will of William Barber who died on 10 May 1807.
Census 1841 - aged 52-56 at Dinting Vale.
According to Hamnett, Thomas Platt farmed over 39 acres at Mouslow and Hill Top in 1846.
Census 1851 - Farmer of 42 acres at Hill Top aged 60. Address given as 66 Dinting Vale.
Census 1861 - at Hill Top aged 71.
Also recorded in 1861 were Mary Platt daughter aged 50 born Hill Top; Sarah granddaughter aged 15 born Derbyshire and grandsons William aged 9 & John aged 7 both born Dinting.
Announcement of his death in the Glossop Record, 3 February 1866, says he died in his 77th year.
19 March 1866. The Will of Thomas Platt late of Dinting in the Parish of Glossop in the County of Derby Farmer deceased who died 2 February 1866 at Dinting aforesaid was proved at Derby by the oaths of William Platt of Dinting aforesaid Farmer Thomas Platt of Dinting aforesaid Grocer and John Platt of Dinting aforesaid Farmer the Sons the Executors. Effects under 600.
