Bessie remembers the Sunday Minnie died, getting off the tram in Glossop and walking along Sandhole to 17 John Street. She said she was only aged about 6 (but must have been 3) but remembers realising something was very wrong. Her mother, Sarah, was very close to Minnie as (before May was born) they were the two youngest and did everything together.
Bessie was born in St Helens as her mother followed tradition and had her first child at her mother's house.
