Notes for JOSEPH BRADLEY:
In the early 1880's, Joseph Bradley invented a hay fork and received a patent for it. With this money, he purchased 160 acres of land near Williams, Iowa. Williams is a small town north of Ames, Iowa on I-25.
He never moved there but it was part of his estate when he died in 1889. When his son, Joseph Franklin Bradley became 17 years old, he was told by the family members that the farm was his to have. In March 1903, he goes to Iowa and comes across some bad weather. He decides to seel the farm at this time. The original homestead in Wisconsin of 102 acres is divided between him and his older brother, Will Bradley. Will adds 20 acres to his 51 acres to make his part 71 acres. (This is told by Morris Bradley in 2000.)
