Clubs.

When we bought the Autoquest we looked at both the Caravan Club and Camping & Caravanning Club and decided that the former suited us best. At the time we knew little about the smaller CL/CS sites and even less about rallies. We stayed on several CC main sites at first but as we gained more knowledge about pitching without EHU we started to use CLs where EHU was optional. We had also started rallying with Forums though we have never been tempted to join a CC centre and attend their rallies (it all seems so formal but that is just a personal view).

At shows we picked up information about the C&CC and heard about their Meets and Temporary Holiday Sites, most of which require no booking at all. So we joined the C&CC and have enjoyed several Meets & THSs with no booking formality at all. We've stayed at a couple of CSs but not yet on a C&CC main site.

We heard good reports about the Motor Caravanners Club rallies being similar to those we enjoy with the C&CC, especially the fact that most do not have to be booked in advance. The MCC had a stand at the Motorhome Show at Shrewsbury in July 2013 so we joined there. It took us nearly a year before we managed a meet but we have enjoyed several with a number of different sections since then.

We can genuinely say that we've never had a problem with a CC site warden or encountered any prejudice against motorhomers from the CC staff. Indeed, on many sites we've stayed at the wardens have been motorhome (rather than caravan) owners.

There are details of the THSs/Meets we've stayed at on our Trips Page.
